Liebe Mitglieder der Koalition der Freien Szene, liebe Künstler_innen, liebe Kulturschaffende,
die Alte Münze soll in einem partizipativen Prozess gesichert und zu einem nicht kommerziellen Kulturort entwickelt werden. 15.000qm für Produktion und Präsentation – das ist unser Ziel!
Daher laden wir Euch im Namen der Freien Szene ein, in einem Workshop Eure Ideen, Meinungen und Vorschläge aktiv in diesen Entwicklungsprozess einzubringen.
Wir fragen: Was wollen wir für einen Ort der Freien Szene schaffen? Wie sieht ein lebendiger Kulturstandort aus? Welche Worte und Bilder müssen gefunden werden, um eine nachhaltige kulturelle Nutzung der Alten Münze zu erarbeiten? Wie kann diese Vision der Öffentlichkeit zugänglich und medienwirksam kommuniziert werden?
Der Workshop „Unkonkrete Utopien 2“ will herausfinden, wie die Alte Münze in 20, 40, 70 Jahren als ein lebendiger Berliner Kulturort aussehen könnte. Kunst- und Kulturschaffende aller Sparten sowie erfahrene Akteur_innen der Ortsentwicklung sind herzlich eingeladen, am Workshop teilzunehmen.
Workshop „Unkonkrete Utopien 2“ – Eine Vision entsteht
Visionen orientieren sich nicht an Regeln und Vorgaben einer etwaigen Machbarkeit. Deshalb werden im Workshop alle Fragen der finanziellen, organisatorischen oder technischen Realisierbarkeit ausgeschlossen. Es sollen Utopien entstehen, die sich konkreter Planungen, statischer Gutachten oder festgesetzter Bebauungspläne entziehen.
Ihr könnt eure Ideen und Materialien vorbereiten und zum Workshop mitbringen oder uns mitteilen, welches Material ihr benötigt und wir stellen es für den Workshop bereit. Jeder bestimmt die künstlerischen Mittel und Techniken seines Beitrags selbst.
Am vierstündigen Workshop am 17. November werden ca. 50 Künstler_innen an fünf themenbezogenen Arbeitsgruppen teilnehmen.
Welche Bedingungen gelten für die Teilnahme am Workshop?
Es gibt keine Zugangsbeschränkung. Jede Form der Kunst ist herzlich willkommen. Wichtig ist, dass ihr Interesse und Freude am Workshop mitbringt.
Wie kann ich teilnehmen?
Schick bis zum 30. Oktober eine E-Mail an: ag_altemuenze@koalition-der-freien-szene-berlin.de unter dem Stichwort „Unkonkrete Utopien 2“
mit folgenden Angaben:

Nach der Durchsicht der Anmeldungen werden wir bis zum 3. November an max. 50 Künstler_innen eine Bestätigung der Teilnahme versenden. Bei der Bestätigung entscheidet das Datum der Einsendung und dass alle Sparten der Kunst in ungefähr gleicher Stärke vertreten sind.
Mit der Bestätigung geben wir die Themen der Arbeitsgruppen und den Ort des Workshops bekannt.
Warum mitmachen?
Das Beteiligungsverfahren bietet der Freien Szene und allen Kunstschaffenden die wohl einmalige Chance, einen Kulturstandort in Berlin im Sinne ihrer Bedürfnisse mitzuformen. Helft mit, den Kulturort Alte Münze aktiv zu gestalten und leitet die Einladung zum Workshop gerne an weitere interessierte Künstler_innen weiter. Wir freuen uns auf einen spannenden und kreativen Workshop.
Die Namen der teilnehmenden Künstler_innen werden in allen nachfolgenden Veröffentlichungen und der entstehenden Internetseite genannt.
Für leckere Verpflegung am Veranstaltungstag ist natürlich gesorgt.

Projektleitung der Workshop-Reihe Unkonkrete Utopien für die AG Alte Münze der Koalition der Freien Szene

Hintergrund
Der Berliner Senat hat im Sommer 2018 auf Grundlage eines Beschlusses des Abgeordnetenhauses angekündigt, die Alte Münze als Kultur- und Kreativstandort zu sichern und zu entwickeln. In einem ersten Schritt soll in einem partizipativen Verfahren ein Konzept für die Nutzung und die entsprechende Herrichtung des Gebäudekomplexes erarbeitet werden. Die Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa und die Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) sind federführend für diesen Prozess zuständig.
Die AG Alte Münze der Koalition der Freien Szene beteiligt sich an diesem Prozess und veranstaltet in diesem Rahmen die Workshopreihe „Unkonkrete Utopien“. Das Projekt wird vom Kulturwerk des bbk berlin e. V. getragen und von der Senatsverwaltung für Kultur und Europa gefördert.
Das Projekt versteht sich selbst als Teilschritt des partizipativen Prozesses. Ziel der Workshopreihe ist es, unter Beteiligung der Freien Szene aller Sparten sowie erfahrener Akteur_innen der Ortsentwicklung, ein Narrativ (in einer Wort- und einer Bildsprache) für die nachhaltige kulturelle Nutzung der Alten Münze zu erarbeiten und diese in unterschiedlichen Medien öffentlich zugänglich zu machen.

Dear members of Independent Art Coalition, Dear Artists
the Berlin parlament has decided to develop the location Alte Münze into a non-commercial cultural site through a participatory process. 15.000 square metres can be secured for production and presentation of the independent art scene. That is our goal! Therefore, we invite you on behalf of the Independent art scene to actively contribute your ideas, opinions and suggestions to this development process in a workshop.
We are asking: what do we need? What does a lively cultural location look like? Which words and images must be found to develop a sustainable cultural use of the Alte Münze? How can this vision be communicated to the public in an accessible and effective way?
The workshop „Undefined Utopias 2“ aims to explore what the Alte Münze might look like as a lively cultural place in Berlin in 20, 40, 70 years. All members from all genres of the Independent Art Scene as well as experienced actors of local development are invited to participate in the workshop.
Workshop “Undefined Utopias 2”—A Vision in the making
Visions are not based on rules and specifications of feasibility. Therefore, all questions of financial, organisational or technical feasibility will be excluded from the workshop. We are looking for utopias that elude concrete planning, static expert opinions or fixed development plans.
You may prepare ideas and materials and bring them to the workshop. Or, you can tell us what materials you need and we will make them available for the workshop. Each participant determines the artistic means and techniques of his or her own contribution.
During the four-hour workshop on 17 November, approximately 50 artists take part in five thematic working groups.
What are the conditions for participation in the workshop?
There are no access restrictions. Every form of art is welcome. Interest and joy in the workshop are crucial.

The participation procedure offers the Independent Scene and all artists the rare opportunity to help shape a location for production and presentation in Berlin according to their needs. You can help to actively design the cultural site Alte Münze. Please also forward this invitation to other interested artists. We are looking forward to an exciting and creative workshop.
The names of the participating artists will be mentioned in all subsequent publications and on the resulting website.

Project management of the workshop series for the Working Group Alte Münze of
Independent Art Coalition
Background
In the summer of 2018, the Berlin parlament announced that it would develop the Alte Münze as a cultural and creative location based on a resolution by the House of Representatives. In a first step, a concept for the use and the corresponding preparation of the building complex need to be worked out in a participative procedure. The Senate Department for Culture and Europe and Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) are responsible for this process.
The Working Group Alte Münze of Independent Art Coalition is engaged in this process and organizes the workshop series „Undefined Utopias“ in this context. The project is supported by the Kulturwerk of bbk berlin e.V. and the Senate Administration for Culture and Europe.
The project understands itself as a partial step of the participative process. The aim of the workshop series is to develop a narrative (in words and images) for the sustainable cultural use of the Alte Münze and to make it publicly accessible in various media. All genres from the Independent Scene as well as experienced actors of local development are welcome to participate in this process.
